I'm sure many (if not all) of you have suffered from sleepless nights. If not, then I envy you. If I have a busy day ahead of me, I know I'm going to have a long night of tossing & turning. Stress insomnia is absolutely a thing. The older I get the more important my night time routine is. It looks a little like this..
1. Sign Out & Power Off
This is nothing new. I've fallen down the Instagram wormhole many times. Silence your phone (or turn it off), power down the laptop, put the tablet away. The blue light from the screen tells your brain to be alert.
2. Change into Pajamas
Buying quality PJs are one of my favorite little luxuries. I have several sets in silk, cotton, & flannel.
3. Tea Time
I drink a lot.. a.. lot.. of coffee during the day. To trick my brain into calming down I drink (caffeine free) herbal tea. You can find a variety of Celestial Seasonings in my cabinet like Extra Sleepy Time & Honey Vanilla Chamomile.
4. Scents That Make Sense
If you've been reading my earlier posts you'll know that I'm a big fan of moisturizing. LUSH makes a lavender scented lotion called Sleepy Time. It's 'cult classic" labeling should not be underestimated. What started as a "can I try a sample.." ended up a permanent fixture on my bedside table.
Other things that help me sleep are my weighted blanket (worth the investment), my silk lined eye mask, keeping the room cold, & of course snuggling up with my two Dachshunds.
