The weather in Washington DC/Northern Virginia has been so up & down lately. Last Saturday we had GORGEOUS spring like weather. Naturally I used it as an excuse to stop by my local Barnes & Noble.
Maggie Shipstead is one of those Goodreads suggestions since I'm forever drawn to beach reads. The setting for "Seating Arrangments" couldn't be more up my alley. Two families, salty island air, & a wedding. However, long buried unhappiness & simmering lust aren't far from reaching the surface. The writing is insightful & graceful. This book makes me want to pour a glass of champagne & watch the misbehavior of the New England WASPy world unfold.
I adore Elin Hilderbrand. She is the quintessential Queen of Summer to me. Her latest book is set on two islands. Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket. Two islands, two sisters. Eleven miles apart. One sister is easy going & laid back. The other is refined & dignified.
Both women are put into situations that force them to learn how to bury the hatchet & finally put their sibling rivalry to rest. The question isn't CAN they but WILL they?
In true fashion, I couldn't leave B&N without picking up a thriller. Two women with multiple fake identities hopscotching from city to city. One is trying out run a death she had no part in while the other is trying to out run something even darker.
Lisa Lutz's "The Passenger" is a fast paced in the sense that I don't recommend reading this before bed. If you're like me & just need to know what happens next? Plan for a weekender marathon.
