My FAVORITE day of the month is when all of my beauty boxes arrive. Later this week I'll be publishing my BoxyCharm review but right now, lets talk about BirchBox!
For a monthly subscription of $10, you can have sample size beauty products delivered to your doorstep. My favorite thing about this company is that they have boxes for both males & females. If you love the box contents, you can purchase the full size on their website & accumulate points. With these points you can shop their mix of beauty, skin, & lifestyle products OR (are you ready for this) other exclusive box kits.
Speaking of customized boxes, did I mention that once a month you can pre-pick a sample for your monthly box? For my February box, I opted to try QUAI Leave-in conditioner.
Lets get to the main event!
AMIKA "Perk Up" Dry Shampoo
My only problem with this sample was that it was just A SAMPLE. It smelled really pretty & worked well with my hair. My biggest problem with dry shampoo is that it doesn't wash out well. It washed out with one attempt & didn't dry my roots out.
Formulated without talc, aluminum starch, artificial colors, petrochemicals, sodium chloride, gluten, & MCIT. This dry shampoo is safe for chemically treated hair & cruelty free! It's also infused with vitamins like C, A, E, & Omega-7.
EYEKO Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
One of the many things I enjoy about BirchBox is exposure to brands I would have otherwise never known about. This liquid eyeliner pen is better suited for gals like myself who don't use eyeliner in the day to day life.
The applicator is more stiff than flimsy which helped build my winged eye look. This color is smudge proof, long lasting, & glossy. Perfect for a night out look or a subtle definition on the lash line.
VASANTI "Brighten Up!" Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
This little powerhouse is a dermatologist grade exfoliating cleanser. Perfect for all skin types. Even my sensitive skin wasn't phased by it. I noticed that the results with my skin mimicked those that had professional microdermabrasion without the redness that follows soon after.
What really impressed me is that they used super fine crystals instead of the plastic beads that you find in other scrubs. The plastic beads are not only harmful to use on your skin but it's bad for the underwater eco-system. Not cute!
Looks like I'm going to be changing up my exfoliating routine with this one. I can't get enough of the aloe, coconut, & papaya scented skin after cleansing. It's well worth the price!!
REAL CHEMISTRY Luminous 3-Minute Peel
I have to say, this isn't your ordinary peel or face mask. I've looked online to buy the full size for days now & it's sold out! I'm an avid multi-tasker & always on the go. This product was easily added into my shower routine.
For starters, prep your skin by washing your face but leaving it a bit damp. Spread the gel thinly over your forehead, cheeks, etc. When you start massaging it into your skin you'll start to notice that it's solidifying. This means it's working!
The peel is now activated & mixing with your dead skin cells. Massage for about 2 to 3 minutes applying light pressure. The last step is to wash your face again. I use it in the shower a lot. The water pressure adds an extra blast getting off the dead cells. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes, nose, or mouth.
COOLA Mineral Face SPF 30 Matte-Tint
Face tints fascinate me. I've experimented with them over the years & learned that not all tints are made the same. The KEY to making tints work with your skin, is to adopt a skin care routine that shrinks the pores but lifts dead skin.
This product is a lightly tinted, has a broad spectrum SPF of 30, & packed the anti-oxidants. I also enjoyed the non-greasy formula. Although when I went a few days without using it, I needed to shake the bottle to mix the formula back up.
My face felt clean, light, & fresh without the appearance of shine. Which is what happens when I go make up free for a day or two. I hope all of you with skin like mine RUN to Sephora & grab a bottle. I think this is going to be a new staple in my summer make up kit.
There you have it! My first BirchBox review! Stay tuned for my February box as well as other products I'm obsessing over. Until next time...
